Before protective devices are installed, the City of Burbank should be consulted.
Some of the items to evaluate when
considering potential mud and debris flows are: - Examine property for potential
area flows;
- Clean areas of potential flows to
allow maximum drainage and to prevent debris runoff;
- Install devices that can handle
potential flow volumes;
- Diversion of flows should not
affect neighboring properties;
- Devices should be installed within
property boundaries – Best practice of diversion flows between adjacent
properties should be with consensus of all parties;
- Properties with adjacent hillsides
should consult with a geotechnical engineer for advice on temporary shoring or
modification of hillside slopes for increased stabilization.
